Well, I am sitting here writing this without the aid of glasses or contacts, and I can see it just fine. In fact, I can see it better than I ever could with glasses or contacts.
Why? I had LASIK surgery on Wednesday. Not only that, but it went so unusually well that my vision was 20/15 the next morning. I had it done 4:30 Wednesday afternoon, and by 9:00 am the following morning my vision was tested at 20/15. Not only that, but I can tell that my vision has improved since then.
In other news, my job has been going well. Not only am I still the mechanical engineer responsible for the Fiber Optic Gyroscopes, but I am also on a program in which we are upgrading the cockpit and navigation electronics on the E-2 "Advanced Hawkeye" surveillance plane. Right now, the most up-to-date versions are designated E-2C, which will become E-2D when we are finished. If you have no idea what that plane is, you may remember the surveillance plane that went down off the coast of China a few years ago after colliding with a Chinese fighter jet, and there was a while in which it was doubtful whether China would give it back to us before having copied everything left on the plane. If you remember that incident, that plane was an E-2C.
